1. How can you prove the following? Emotions:
Love
Not everything that we believe in, can be seen. 2. Why can we not see God? John 1:18 "No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is truly God and is closest to the Father, has shown us what God is like." 1 Timothy 6:16 "Only God lives for ever! And he lives in light that no one can come near. No human has ever seen God or ever can see him. God will be honoured, and his power will last for ever. Amen." - God is invisible.
3. People cannot guess what God is like by themselves but need God to tell them what He is like. 1 Cor. 1:21 "God was wise and decided not to let the people of this world use their wisdom to learn about him. Instead, God chose to save only those who believe the foolish message we preach." We are dependent on God's telling
us about Himself for our knowledge of God. If God did not reveal Himself
then we would have no true knowledge of God.
Romans 1:18-20 "From heaven God shows how angry he is with all the wicked and evil things that sinful people do to crush the truth. They know everything that can be known about God, because God has shown it all to them. God's eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all he has made. That's why those people don't have any excuse." - God has revealed a little
about himself through creation. That is his power and divine nature. But
due to sin even this understanding is not always accurate.
5. Can we prove that God made the world? Hebrews 11:1, 3 "Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. It was their faith that made our ancestors pleasing to God. Because of our faith, we know that the world was made at God's command. We also know that what can be seen was made out of what cannot be seen." - No. No one was in the beginning
except God. Christians rely on what God has shared in the Bible, scientists
add to this knowledge through research. (But remember science is not perfect)
Hebrews 1:1-3 "Long ago in many ways and at many times God's prophets spoke his message to our ancestors. But now at last God sent his Son to bring his message to us. God created the universe by his Son, and everything will some day belong to the Son. God's Son has all the brightness of God's own glory and is like him in every way. By his own mighty word he holds the universe together. After the Son had washed away our sins, he sat down at the right side of the glorious God in heaven." - God spoke to prophets
God came down to earth as Jesus. Thus, Jesus was God in human form. John 14:6-11 "I am the way, the truth, and the life!" Jesus answered. "Without me, no one can go to the Father. If you had known me, you would have known the Father. But from now on, you do know him, and you have seen him." Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need." Jesus replied: Philip, I have been with you for a long time. Don't you know who I am? If you have seen me, you have seen the Father. How can you ask me to show you the Father? Don't you believe that I am one with the Father and that the Father is one with me? What I say is not said on my own. The Father who lives in me does these things. Have faith in me when I say that the Father is one with me and that I am one with the Father. Or else have faith in me simply because of the things I do." - Jesus proved he was God by being sinless, by doing miracles, by fulfilling Old Testament prophecies and the biggest proof; dying and then coming to life again. Example: If you were surrounded
by ants and wanted to warn them of the fact that the building you are in
is about to be burnt down; What could you do? Yelling would not help,
as they don't understand humans or English. If however, you could become
an ant you would be able to communicate to them because you are now one
of them. Jesus is God the Son who came down to earth as a human to tell
and show us God. Jesus is 100% man and 100% God. Thus, the perfect go-between.
Fact, Feelings and Faith.
James 2:19 "You surely believe there is only one God. That's fine. Even demons believe this, and it makes them shake with fear." -God wants us to respond; not just believe.
SUMMARY OF WHAT WE HAVE LEARNT We may try to guess what
God is like but the best way to find out what He is like is to read how
God describes Himself in the Bible. We know that looking at Jesus is the
best way to understand God and Jesus proved he was God's Son by his miracles
and the resurrection.
