SOME KEY BIBLICAL
TEACHING
1. All
Christians are
empowered by
the Spirit for ministry to build up the Church.
"We proclaim him,
admonishing and
teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone
perfect
in Christ." Colossians 1:28 NIV
"And the things you have
heard me say in
the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will
also
be qualified to teach others." 2 Timothy 2:2 NIV
"It was he who gave
some to be apostles,
some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and
teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the
body
of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in
the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the
whole
measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV
2. The key aim is to
sharing the gospel
(Evangelism) and help people to grow to spiritual maturity.
(Discipleship)
"Therefore go and make
disciples
of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded
you and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew
28:19-20 NIV
3. Christians are to be a
"light to
the world" showing forth the love and truth of Jesus in their personal
life.
"You are the salt of the
earth. But if
the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no
longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither
do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on
its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same
way,
let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and
praise your Father in heaven." Matthew
5:13-16 NIV
These
doctrines are central
but must be seen as part of belief in traditional Biblical faith.
Ultimately,
people need to glorify God, these three teachings help express how the
church will achieve this
