Job Description:

God has blessed Hawthorn C of C with a strategic youth ministry in our community of Adelaide. Attracting un-churched youth from many of our local high schools, we are looking for a passionate, visionary, experienced leader to provide overall leadership to this ministry. Working with and developing our present lay-leaders, volunteers and student leaders, we believe God is calling us to take this ministry to a new level of effectiveness, specifically in the area of reaching and discipling a greater number of youth for Christ.

This ministry role will allow for time each week to connect with young people one-on-one and/or in small group settings but at the same time, central to our ministry activities is our weekly outreach program that is often described as highly relational and creative. This youth ministry position would involve the design and oversight of youth ministry events, worship, discipleship and outreach.

This youth ministry position is a full-time position. The initial appointment would preferably be for 3 years, with the potential for an extended period to be negotiated. We are looking for someone who has the following qualities:

Cornerstone Christian Fellowship is a relatively new Church that was started in January 2004 with 15 people. It was founded on the principle of Jesus Christ as the “Cornerstone” of our lives, and that a relationship with him is outpoured in our relationships to one another. Primary Job Purpose; 
To lead Cornerstone Christian Fellowship to accomplish and fulfill Christ’s stated purpose and values for his Church. Perfecting of the saints for the work of the Ministry. We see the Pastor as a leader of leaders, plus as a leader in church life with gifts, training and calling to serve full- time, helping each of us to do the Lord's will.
Responsibilities:
(a) Encourager.
One who comes along side and helps people to rise to greater levels in their lives.
(b) Equipper of the Saints.
One who understands the Biblical Principles of Ephesians 4:11-12.
(c) Preacher/Teacher.
One who would preach on a regular basis, but also make room for others to develop their gifts as well. This would also include the responsibility for all preaching appointments, and an accountability for anything that occurs through the Pulpit.
(d) Adviser on strategies.
It is important that the Pastor be involved in providing vision and planning for the future, as a collaborative part of the leadership team.
(e) On call carer through the Elders.
That a Pastoral care team is developed and/or maintained, but that the Pastor is not responsible for every pastoral need. The pastor will however need to be available to provide counseling support during crises or emergency situations.

(f) Community involvement.
The Pastor is encouraged to maintain active involvement in the community. E.g. Howard Springs PS. Ministers Fraternal. (Palmerston & Darwin City Ministers Association). We acknowledge that the Pastor will need to find his own level of involvement in the local community, but fully support an outwardly focused vision for the church and its pastor.
(g) Charismatic in style and Theology.
One who is Spirit filled and moves in the gifts of the Spirit. Who has the ability to acknowledge and grow the spiritual gifts of others.

Requirements:
(a)    30-40 years of age preferably with a young family
(b)    Self motivated with vision
(c)    A passion for the lost
(d)    A desire to see the church body grow both spiritually and numerically.
(e)    A strong call of God upon their life.
(f)    An ability to lead and to work in building a team
(g)    Someone who is prepared to speak with boldness, but compassion.
(h)    One who always works towards unity, both within and without the church.
(i)    Prior experience in undertaking building programs, or a demonstrated willingness to accept the challenge of a building program.
(j)    A willingness to be a part of the annual strategic planning process for the church.


Performance Review:
A probationary review conducted by the Elders is undertaken after 3 Months, and then an annual review each year after that. If a moderator is required, the Elders would then appoint one as necessary.

Cooks Assistant Internship (one position)
An opportunity exists within the dynamic and richly rewarding environment of Camp Coolamatong to undertake an internship as cooks assistant. Develop skills in all aspects of a commercial kitchen and gain certificate II in food handling and preparation. Youth Ministry Internship (four positions for 2010)
Be part of a vibrant team committed to the mission of introducing children to Jesus through a relational, camping ministry at Camp Coolamatong. 12 month internships, commencing January 09 will provide a unique opportunity to:
A)    deepen and grow your faith as you are discipled and mentored ;
B)    gain nationally recognised Cert III qualifications in outdoor education;
C)    develop leadership skills, experience and training in youth ministry.

A 12 month traineeship at Camp Coolamatong presents a challenging and extremely fulfilling opportunity to deepen and grow as a Christian youth worker. A traineeship is suited to young adults who have a proven commitment to children’s ministry.  Potential applicants will come with experience in leading and programming of youth related programs. Previous experience in a variety of outdoor recreational pursuits is an advantage. Trainees have significant levels of leadership responsibility both to children and their teachers who come on school camps to Coolamatong and to the interns who serve in leadership positions at the camp. Trainees have opportunity to complete a Certificate IV in Christian Service whilst serving at the camp. Traineeships are salary packaged positions which provide a modest income that enables young adults to be financially supported as they commit to following Christ in 12 months of full time ministry and training.

Building and Grounds Internship (one position)
This 12 month position is perfect for the practically minded person who wants to develop their skills whilst being directly involved in growing a vibrant children’s ministry. This is an opportunity to work directly under the supervision of a qualified builder in all aspects of building and grounds maintenance and site development. 

Camp Coolamatong is a not for profit Christian campsite in East Gippsland, Victoria,  that specialises in delivering fully programmed camps for schools. Camp Coolamatong is located on the shores of the beautiful Gippsland lakes. The camp provides a wonderful environment to engage children in a wide range of adventure based activities including canoeing, climbing/abseiling, horse riding, mountain biking and bush cooking to name just a few. We are an English-speaking, multi-denominational church located in the heart of Europe with members from over 25 nations in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.  We have about 200 people in two worship services on Sunday (one contemporary, one traditional). Our congregation includes people from the United Nations, the international schools, Bonn University, some American military and multi-national corporations in the area.
